COVID-19 Local Business Support Scheme

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has launched a new COVID-19 Local Business Support Scheme to help businesses unable to access support from existing Scottish and UK Government business schemes. 

The scheme is aimed at businesses located in the Outer Hebrides that have been unsuccessful in applying for other Government assistance. The support is not intended to cover business cashflow or general day-to-day costs but is aimed at businesses that have to maintain ongoing financial commitments such as interest on loans or hire purchase agreements in relation to plant and machinery.  Please visit www.cne-siar.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/coronavirus/business-resilience/ to fnd out more and to view the scheme leaflet. Business Gateway Webinars Taking your Business Online During the Coronavirus Pandemic Webinar – National Webinar With the outbreak of COVID-19, taking your business online to take advantage of these opportunities will likely pay dividends, meaning that you will come out the other side hopefully stronger.   The focus of this workshop is speed, agility and resilience with the aim of helping you take your business online as quickly as possible.  It will be delivered on 13 April and 15 April and is available nationally.

A new online tutorial on How to get Your Business Through the Current Emergency is also available.  It can be viewed at any time at https://www.bgateway.com/online-tutorials, where you will also find a list of all our online tutorials.   Enterprise Relief Fund A £5 million fund from the Prince’s Trust and NatWest offering grants to self-employed people aged 18-30 has been announced.  

Grants can be used to maintain core business operations during the crisis, as well as meet any existing financial commitments, such as paying for essential equipment or settling invoices from suppliers.  Grants will also support young people to diversify their business to respond to opportunities created by the crises.

You must be a business owner aged 18 to 30, who set up their business in the last four years and don't have any other source of income during the crisis.  If you set up your business with support from The Prince’s Trust in the last four years, you are still eligible for the fund if you were aged 18-30 at the time you received the support.
